Control of Your Mental Health.

In-Network Vs. Private Pay

Licensed Professionals will often have the choice to sign contractual agreements with various insurance companies. Generally speaking, if the provider agrees to these contracts, they are considered an “In-Network Provider.” If they choose to not sign the contracts they are considered an “Out-of-Network Provider” (or a “Private Pay” Provider).

In these provider contracts there are specific details (i.e. clauses, specific procedures, reimbursement rate schedules, restrictions, etc) the insurance company requires the Provider to comply with, or agree to, in order to remain “In-Network.” The discussion surrounding these contracts is lengthly and very detailed. In short, in regard to mental health, the contractual details can interfere with therapeutic care in various ways. Thus, there are numerous benefits to working with an Out-of-Network/Private Pay Therapist.
