HI THERE! MY NAME IS NIC.

  • My therapeutic foundation is rooted in humanistic, client-centered, and relational approaches. I primarily specialize in treating many types of trauma, ranging from various forms of relational abuse and neglect to experiencing or witnessing death and shock trauma.

Other concerns I specialize in are: Anxiety, stress, fatigue and burnout, self-esteem issues, grief/loss, depression, antagonistic relational stress, and other relational difficulties.

I utilize skillsets and interventions from different therapeutic modalities such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), The Gottman Method, Somatic Experiencing (SE), wellness principles, and neuroscience.

I have been practicing clinically since 2015 and have clinical experience in both the residential and outpatient mental health settings. My primary therapeutic experience is with adolescents, adults, and couples.

  • Unconditional positive regard, genuineness, empathy, curiosity, and respect are values I hold dear. I also sprinkle in a little humor here and there.

I am a compassionately direct and transparent Therapist who will strive to support you towards the goals and objectives you specify throughout therapy. I place significant value on collaboration throughout each session.

I am attentive and will always seek to identify and reinforce your innate skills, understanding, and capabilities to adaptively manage and resolve your concerns.

  • I’ve always found myself in “helping” roles or positions in relationships. Throughout childhood and adolescence, I was the “go-to” guy and was always curious about exploring solutions to difficulties my friends, family, and I encountered.

As a young adult, I gravitated towards the fields of psychology and art. I found it immensely fascinating how we connect, how we feel valued, and how we interact with the various systems in our lives…and how we create our realities in different ways.

Throughout this process, I found meaning to working with people and helping them understand their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. And found joy in experiencing with them, the positive changes they were enacting in the world around them.

  • Sure,

Jurassic Park is one of the best movies out there! (…but I’m open to suggestions).

I was a Wildland Firefighter for many years….(As a result of these experiences I have specific experience and training in clinically supporting First Responders, Wildland Firefighters and support staff, Government Employees, Active-Duty Military, Veterans, and their families).

I “geek-out” about technology and sci-fi. (Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter…and yes, I’ve read all the books)!

I also have degrees in Photography and Art History and can spend weeks in any Fine Art or Natural History museum!

My current favorite past-times are: Photography, hiking, gardening, painting, and snuggling with my fur-babies.

  • Good question:

Nicolais - (Pronounced just like “Nicholas”)

    Cuyle - (Pronounced like “Kyle”)

I answer to many pronunciations though. Any way that you want to pronounce it is fine with me. (I’ve heard some cool versions over the years)!

  • I’m happy to chat more and see how I can help support you!

  • I totally get it. Getting ahold of Therapists is really hard! Therapists are often in session and unavailable. When not in session, they are taking moments to prepare for their next appointment…and also not available.

During business hours, I prioritize returning phone calls and emails within a 24 hour period. In short, if you contact me, expect to hear from me within that 24 time-frame.

Additionally, any voicemail I receive will be immediately responded to with an automated text from my office, inviting you to share any days/times that are best to call you back. (If you are comfortable sharing this info via text, I will do my best to accommodate one of your available times).

Lastly, you have the option to click the button below to schedule a time to engage in a free 15 minute phone consultation.

Honestly, I’ve been in your shoes and reaching out for support is one of the biggest barriers to starting therapy. My first goal is to make that step a little easier…and not waste time playing “phone tag.”
