- INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING -
Individual counseling is unique to each person. Typical individual counseling sessions range from 50 to 90 minute sessions. The number of sessions vary widely and are based on the individual’s diagnosis and severity of presenting concern/issue.
During sessions, you and the clinician will work collaboratively to construct and implement treatment plan objectives and goals. As therapy progresses, specific interventions are used to assist you in addressing/resolving concerns. At times, the clinician may also ask you to continue/complete tasks outside of the therapy session. This helps implement the skills and information learned in therapy into your everyday life and relationships.
Client’s symptoms and goals are continuously assessed throughout the course of therapy. Once you have achieved your goals in therapy, you and your clinician will work together to gradually reduce and end therapy in a supportive and empowering manner.
Some common concerns addressed in individual counseling are:
Anger problems and emotion regulation.
Difficulties with traumatic memories and/or experiences.
Developing positive ways to cope with life’s difficulties.
Difficulties with stress and anxiety.
Difficulties with adjustments and transitions.
Struggles with depression or feeling low.
