Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Our perceptions of situations and events often have a greater impact on our mood and behaviors than the actual event. CBT treats dysfunctional thoughts, behaviors, and emotions by assisting the client in slowing down these processes and developing greater awareness and an increased toolbox of adaptive and helpful cognitions and skills. CBT focuses on understanding client’s thought patterns, assists clients in understanding their emotions, challenges maladaptive thought patterns, and works to change destructive/dysfunctional behavior patterns. CBT is a widely used treatment modality in psychotherapy and has been shown to be effective in treating numerous mental health disorders, including: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, and Depression.
